I spent quite a while thinking about this before getting it. The price was all right and it was being sold in a set – Spider-man and New Goblin from the movie Spider-man 3. Now I was pretty impressed with the New Goblin replica because of it’s head sculpt bearing close likeness to James Franco from the movie but I wasn’t too sure about Spider-man himself.
Turns out it wasn’t as bad as what a lot of people online were saying, that he looked very fake, toy-like, etc. Of course it would have helped if he had a Toby Maguire head sculpt like the upcoming replica black suit version of Spider-man but it was still a very good buy.
I was always convinced about the New Goblin because of the head sculpt and the really cool accessories it comes with but I’ve never actually bought a villain before. All things considered I actually only wanted to get the Spider-man to complete my Marvel collection, however this was the sort of figures you get in pairs. Hey if there was a Mary Jane replica I’d get that too because they all started in the movie.
The detail is fantastic and when put together you can see what I mean when I say it’s value increases. Incidentally the value for these 2 figures have begun to increase by quite a bit because Spider-man is now sold out and collectors are trying to get their hands on both figurines before the black suit Spider-man is released to complete the Spider-man 3 movie replicas set.
In case you’re wondering what my current Marvel Collection looks like, this is just a portion of it on the top of my display shelf. The rest are mostly Iron Man figures.
Until next time, Happy Lunar New Year!
