With the return of Danker’s pick I though it was only fitting to do this just over 12 hours after the online broadcast of Utada HIkaru’s Wild Life concert, which is now officially the most epic moment of 2010………..IF you are a Hikki fan that is.
Online over facebook and twitter, the social networking world is flooding their pages with Hikki videos, talking about how she’s decided to take a hiatus from the music scene and many many many fans are emotional about waving goodbye to a woman who has truly defined the Jpop scene and gone places no Japanese singers has gone before.
Still only 27, Utada Hikaru recently announced on her personal blog that starting in 2011, she would go on an indefinite hiatus. Citing fatigue since her debut 12 years before, wanting to rest, study new things, learn more about the world, and to give time to private matters. She says the time could be anything from two to five years.
Utada performed last night at Yokohama Arena to promote the album Utada Hikaru single Collection Vol. 2, her first Japan concert since Utada United 2006. The two night Yokohoma concert series would be officially named “WILD LIFE” was also streamed live via Ustream for fans all over the world. If you missed it, you can parts of it on YouTube with the first song performed being “Goodbye Happiness”, her latest and final single……..for now….
She followed up her opening song with “Traveling”…….the hidden messages I felt, hard for any Hikki fan to say they weren’t emo.
Utada Hikaru Single Collection Vol. 2 was released on November 24. This new album includes all her Japanese singles since 2004 (from Dareka no Negai ga Kanau Koro to Prisoner of Love), and an additional five new tracks specifically for this album.
Unique in every way, passionate in every note she sings, Utada Hikaru has truly touched the hearts of all her fans worldwide with her flavor of life, inspiring us to fight the blues in this beautiful world.
The last song of her concert, Time Will Tell, my favorite Hikki song ever! Maybe she will be back, only time will tell.
Danker out!
