Cause I Want It That Way

As promised, a blog post totally dedicated to the Backstreet Boys concert after the Singapore GP. It was held at the Padang right after the race and boy was it packed. Amazing I tell you I totally didn’t expect them to get the sort of reception they did, 16 years on and they are still big crowd pullers.

8218_143785426772_599176772_2785675_1113145_n

The sound system was a particular highlight for me as the guys performed some tracks of their solo efforts and they did classic BSB songs with abit of a jazzy funk style to it.

8218_143785541772_599176772_2785678_6392795_n

They took awhile to warm up but when they did they really worked the crowd.

8218_143785911772_599176772_2785690_6242982_n

It was nice to see alot off people my own age dancing and singing along to their hits, man I felt young again…..like I was 14 when they first burst onto the scene.

8218_143786106772_599176772_2785698_6726167_n

They have aged that’s for sure but they kept their performance old school style, it wasn’t a case of them being stubborn to change, they have grown with the times but it’s just their core style of performing worked! People wanted that, they enjoyed that and it was exactly what the group gave.

8218_143785851772_599176772_2785688_676031_n

A concert spanning 2 hours filled with lots of memories and of course their classic co-ordinated dance moves……..hahaha! Ironic that one of the last songs they performed was “Backstreets Back”.

8218_143785151772_599176772_2785666_1093858_n

That pretty much wraps up September……what a month man! BSB for the win!

9623_156083411751_134407786751_3174727_4837584_n

Oh did I mention that I also caught up with AJ and Howie for an interview which will be aired soon on Power 98. Kinda cool cos I think I blend in like a Backstreet boy myself……hahaha!

Danker out!

F1 Walkabout

What a weekend!  Just thinking back about it, trying to pen this blog post I keep having the race play back in my head. Congrats to Lewis Hamilton for winning, I was really hoping that he would considering the season he has had.

Not as much people in Mclaren kits this year, it seems the hot ones around we Ferrari, could be the fact they have done alot for the hype of their presense in Singapore. There were alot more Ferrari stores with kits on sale too.

8218_142526021772_599176772_2773002_6125725_n

Believe me I was tempted, guess it’s the colour that really caught my attention as did it catch most peoples attention too but hey gotta stick with Mclaren and this was the sole Mclaren Mercedes store I found.

8218_143151386772_599176772_2780612_661643_n

Of course there were other generic F1 stores selling Mclaren stuff but this was the sole hut with purely Mclaren products. Got myself 2 tops and a cool key chain. That’s one of the main reasons I love f1. It’s like going on a holiday and being part of this entire culture and festival.

8218_143144241772_599176772_2780527_1464158_n

If you had a 3 day walkabout pass, you would have seen the other races that happened during the day as well as the practice sessions and qualifying.

8218_143151321772_599176772_2780602_93449_n

I caught the race proper at the padang in front of the big screen…………it’s like being surrounded by the roaring engines of the cars racing around you yet you have the best view of the whole race which was being telecast on the giant screen.

8218_143151361772_599176772_2780608_2821383_n

8218_143151371772_599176772_2780610_3876144_n

Well I’ve done my own recce for locations to watch the race next year………….hehehe I ain’t sharing man!

8218_143770226772_599176772_2785173_2136601_n

Wonder how it’s like to be there on one of those yachts………can’t imagine when the IR is up next year……we get to out do ourselves again. Go Singapore!

8218_143770231772_599176772_2785174_3934118_n

That’s it for my picture adventure…..can’t wait till next year!

8218_143151291772_599176772_2780597_268647_n

I’ll write about the Backstreet Boys concert after the race in a seperate post……………BSB deserves it, haha!

Puma Presents Red In My Head

It’s F1 season which means Fast cars, Superstars, lots of glamour and Parties. I got to attend one thanks to Sebastian of Power Cruisin’  and it was the Puma Red in my head Party over at St James.

Check out this Red Dome we were in. The party was organized by Puma and there was gonna be a special appearance. It gets cooler because only 150 people had invites so it was pretty exclusive.

7421_144962783694_506123694_2569213_5094647_n

Projections and lighting filled the inside of the Dome, mind you it was not that big but the ceiling was high though. There were a few tables as well as a DJ console at the main stage area.  As the title implies, the theme for that night was red and that had something to do with the special guest.

7524_134274949657_751154657_2378048_3802007_n

And the special guest arrives and he is none other than Ferrari Driver and 2007 F1 World Champion Kimi Raikkonen. Puma of course is one of the sponsors for Ferrari and it was great to be that close to an actual F1 driver.

7524_134274934657_751154657_2378045_7041253_n

Other highlights of the event were the F1 simulators which featured the Singapore Street Circuit and I crashed…………twice…..hahaha! Oh well they still gave some cool freebies just for taking part.

7421_144962768694_506123694_2569212_1034040_n

Models from Korea were also there for photo opportunities with the girls and the cars……….who could resist right. (This picture was courtesy of Nick Tan……thanks mate!)

 9617_1240746062868_1355798635_703702_3532443_n

But of course none of this would have been possible if Qian from Puma had not invited Sebastian and she was kind enough to deck us out in Puma gear for this party.

7524_134274969657_751154657_2378052_5672171_n

All in all it was a great first F1 party for me and a big thanks to Seb and Qian for the invites and the cool shoes man! Well the night continued as long as the free flow lasted and I learnt a valuable lesson that day.

9617_1240740382726_1355798635_703696_75198_n

Do not start the night with Champaign then move on to Whiskey and end off with Vodka…………I learnt this lesson before but some how I forgot.

7421_144961373694_506123694_2569209_6928695_n

Now that I’m geared up, time to get ready for race day!

Danker out!

Boots, Boots and More Boots

Normally you would have to travel to Peninsula Shopping Centre to look for these babies but now you can do it in the heart of Orchard.

Today Dr Martens opened it’s spanking new flagship store at Orchard central. The theme for the store is very British, you should go check it out for yourself and you will get what I mean…………anyway back to the opening.

10621_141414111654_740946654_2750967_3858629_n

Boots of all colours were on display including the Fall collection which was in line with the stores opening.

10621_141414156654_740946654_2750973_711435_n

Here’s Ian from Dr Martens with a custom sprayed guitar which will be on display at the shop. Cool huh!

10621_141414086654_740946654_2750963_5350720_n

A fashion show was done at the unoccupied store opposite Dr Martens, it gave the show a very underground performance which was really unique. I loved the concept cos it did suit the boots that were being showcased……….guess it’s the whole London, Briton feel!

10621_141414231654_740946654_2750986_5966927_n

Multi coloured boots from Yellow…..

Go check out the new Dr Martens store at Orchard Central.

Danker out!

More “Family” Portriats

I got more pictures from the video shoot I did for HDB. Basically it was an interactive video which will be at the HDB Gallery at HDB Hub from early next year. Now I must say this was a fun experience cos I never did an interactive video before.

The day before the video shoot we had a screen saver shoot……….I know right…..I get to be on a screen saver, haha! Basically there were no lines and everything was in front of a black screen so you would have to imagine abit while acting.

9618_134053790668_632250668_2649211_8368886_n

You’ve already seen this shot of me and my “family” now here’s more behind the scenes shots.

That’s my “kid” Steffan getting his hair done. This boy is adorable I tell you, with boundless energy………..gosh I felt old being around him………wait a minute, I am old…

9618_134051360668_632250668_2649183_5212353_n

This is the black screen I was talking about, no dark clothes otherwise it will disappear in the shot.

9618_134041015668_632250668_2649000_382081_n

And that’s Shahid, the main man giving directions. I learnt alot from him that day, very professional way of doing things which was what I really enjoyed about the shoot.

9618_134048075668_632250668_2649045_6482081_n

And there you have it, another happy family shot in front of the green screen.

Super Import Nights

Back for the 3rd year, Super Import Cars, Super Import Babes, Neon lights and a whole lot of noise was at the Singapore Expo Hall 4 over the long weekend.

This year I found the Japanese Imports pretty interesting, check out this Gundam designed Evo. That’s some pretty intense artwork.

DSC_6388

It really was one big garage because at one end you had your exotic cars, then at the other was an auto styling competition going on. In fact there were also some super bikes and some unique bikes on display.

DSC_6401

Sebastian from Power Crusin’ also popped by and we had a little peace treaty from our Facebook Face Off. Here’s a pic of us with the Import Models from Taiwan!

DSC_6407

This was my favorite display, it’s a modified BMW Police car from Japan. Now these cars have gotta be seriously modified in order to keep up with the street racers in Japan. Cool design man!

Miss Earth SG Coronation Night

After months of planning and rehearsals, the big night finally came on 17th Sept 09, the Miss Earth Singapore 2009 coronation night held at the Bellini Grande. I can’t begin to tell you how excited I was having helped out with this event for a few months now.

Adding the power of produced elements like voice overs to make the show an even more enjoyable experience. Here’s the run down from the photos provided by Kenneth.

DSC_5945

Rob Collins and the Bellini Grande House band kick started the event, warming up the crowd with a brand of familiar jazz numbers.

DSC_5838

Into the show proper and girls came out with various outfits like the cocktail dresses, the bikinis and the redesigned outfits. Now this segment is a trademark of Miss Earth Singapore because it is the use of the contestants old clothes turned or combined to form new redesigned ones. Waste not as the saying goes.

DSC_5924

The night of competition went on to the evening gown and cutting the 13 contestants down to the top 8. Pre-judging was already done on the 5th of Sept so all the contestants could do was to just enjoy being on stage and put on a good show.

DSC_6077

Of course after the Top 8 was reveiled, the dreaded Question and Answer segment came from out panel of judges before that number was cut to the Top 4, following another round of Q and A and then……………the handing over of titles.

DSC_6044

The top 4 from last year came out for a final walk and to talk about their experience being part of the Miss Earth Singapore 2008 campaign.

DSC_6201

Of course the queen, Ivy Leow came out last to give her final walk and she reminded us that her journey was not over as she would still be advocating the Environmental cause she has stood for during the past year.

Here are more features from my other underground celebrity photograper, Ed.

First, thank you Dr Martens for loaning me these bling bling shoes………wooo they really got people’s attention! Hahaha!

The panel of judges included, Samuel Seow, Geraldine Tay, Timothy Go, Calvin Cheng, Howard Shaw and the beautiful Nadya Hutagalung………..man I’ve always dreamed of meeting her. How to concentrate on stage you tell me.

10621_136274991654_740946654_2698826_103718_n

My co-host of the evening was Genecia Luo, former Miss Singapore world 2006.

AXN Lost And Found Party

How can you not love AXN, they bring us great shows like Lost and CSI! Woo Hoo they had a party to celebrate the milestone 100th episode of Lost and the 150th Episode of CSI: Miami.

The Power Crew turned up for the free food and booze and shamelessly slut ourselves on TV……hahaha!

7833_134232333126_700258126_2549146_5988496_n

This was perfect for the weekend, a chill out party amoung good friends and fellow jocks just chillin out and messing around…………….gosh you can tell it was a long week. You know, if we had our way, we would have brought that AXN sign back to the office.

8330_166879300785_752770785_4218647_3037228_n

Yes yes….bring on the free flow…… The party was held at The Shack, Sentosa and it was decked out with ‘Lost’ tents and tribal sticks with the top lit with fire.

8330_166879250785_752770785_4218639_6551304_n

I honestly have no idea why I was doing this, it must have been the part where we were pretending to be lost on Sentosa……oh well we thought it was pretty funny at that time.

8330_166879475785_752770785_4218674_3204813_n

We also met Oli Petigrew, the host of Sony Style Magazine. Well he was on hand to host the event. play some games and give out some pretty awesome prizes……………..guess which radio slutted themselves again……hahahaha!

Inglorious Basterds

In German-occupied France, Shosanna Dreyfus witnesses the execution of her family at the hand of Nazi Colonel Hans Landa. Shosanna narrowly escapes and flees to Paris, where she forges a new identity as the owner and operator of a cinema.

Elsewhere in Europe, Lieutenant Aldo Raine organizes a group of Jewish soldiers to engage in targeted acts of retribution. Known to their enemy as “The Basterds”, Raine’s squad joins German actress and undercover agent Bridget Von Hammersmark on a mission to take down the leaders of The Third Reich. Fates converge under a cinema marquee, where Shosanna is poised to carry out a revenge plan of her own

inglourious-basterds-blog

A classic Tarantino genre-blending thrill ride, Inglourious Basterds is violent, unrestrained, and thoroughly entertaining,

Rotten Tomatoes

The script for this film took 10 years to make, all starting from a simple format which grew and grew. If your stomach can’t take the gory stuff then I suggest you give this film a pass but if you can endure, then your in for one amazing ride.
