More Mark II

Forgive my indulgence, I can’t help it, I gotta put up more photos of the Mark II. The detail just amazes me. Let’s just take another close look at it.

It lights up, you already know that but I just love how the lights from his helmet, chest area and palms just glows. It’s like you can feel it’s power.

Closer………

Even closer….

The neck area has light coming from the chest area, like a reflective glow. Wonder how the Mark III will be like.

Oh speaking of Mark III, I was out at Kinokuniya yesterday and I saw this display near the comic book section.

Now I know what some of my close friends are thinking right now looking at this……….NO I can’t afford this. It costs over 1K man but just imagine if I could. Wow I could have my very own Iron Man vault or something.  Throw in my 24″ LCD, perhaps a PS3, my entire comic collection, toy collection…………….full on superhero vault, woo hoo!

*Snap* reality check………….theres no way I can get this….

Marie Digby At The Power98 Studios

We’ve had alot international musicians pop by the Power 98 studios and it was nice to see a familiar face this afternoon. Marie Digby was in town for a concert at the Arena and she dropped by to record an episode of the acoustic lounge and do a quick interview as well.

IMG_6617-1

She’s still pretty much the same as when I met her last year, down to earth and totally into her music. Her crew were a nice bunch too, funny guys with cameras.

Hahaha…..geeky photo moment………after all she told me to use my deep dimples…….hahaha! Listen to Power98 for details on when you can catch Marie Digby on the acoustic lounge.

Iron Man Mark II

After my previous post about The Batman DX 2 toy that is set to be released in the first quater of 2010. I thought I’d take my toy collection to the next level.

I’ve got a 30cm Superman and Batman at home but that’s it for my tallest ones. I figured it needs some Marvel additions.  So giving it much though I decided to embark on my own hall of armours starting with the Mark II and for this project I’m going with the movie version of Ironman.

P1000427-1

This is awesome from the moment you take out the package. The box alone looks damn expensive and makes a great display item on it’s own.

P1000428-1

Let’s take a look at some of the things this baby comes with. “Proof that Tony Stark has a heart” remember that from the Ironman movie where Pepper gives Tony his “heart” so to speak. Well there is a replica of this included.

P1000431-1

Did I mention it lights up? Just like the Mark II armour………it’s damn cool how the palm flight stablizer lights up too. Wah I tell you my saliva drop when I took it out of the box!

P1000453-1

The Comic Con in San Diego gave it’s audience a preview of the Mark 4 for the upcoming Ironman 2 movie so the aim for me is to create my own hall of armours………..I’m going for about 4 of these Ironman armours then I’m done.

P1000430-1

It’s gonna be one hell of a project that will probably take a  year to complete……..gotta save to buy know. If all goes good, I’ll have my hall of armours by the time Ironman 2 hits cinemas.

When Your Bored

Here’s what you do when your bored! Our office has been taken precautions due to the H1N1 outbreak just like most companies. Now although there was a serious mood, you gotta have a good laugh right……..ok maybe I was just bored.

So I decided to go around fully covered with a jacket, sunglasses and cap…….like a rapist…….hahahhaa!

Managed to scare a few people………very good I’m glad. Another productive day in my life!

Art and Craft: The Pheonix

Recently I purchased a Pheonix figurine from a toy fair at the Singapore Arts museum. It’s rare that I come across the Pheonix from Marvel comics so I didn’t want to pass of this opportunity…..however it wasn’t quite to my liking.

Some modifications had to be made so I sort out for inspiration and found it here.

First here’s a shot of The Pheonix I bought before some ‘redesigning’. As you can see, she looks like abit of an evil slut with too much pointy parts….hahaha!

IMG00004-20090706-1904

Sand paper, paint and some markers were the order of the day as I started by sanding down the pointy edges around her legs and hands.

Next was the base layer of green paint to depict the original colours of The Pheonix and yellow for the gloves and boots area.

IMG00006-20090708-1612

The yellow belt is made out of thick paper and the black areas around the Pheonix logo were done with a regular black permanent ink marker. Well mine didn’t turn out as nice as my inspiration’s but hey I’m happy.

There you go, The Pheonix now looks alot more friendly and stands out just find next to Captain America and Iron man on my table!

IMG00008-20090708-1941

Good colour combination too. This art thing can be therapy I tell you cos the entire process wasn’t difficult at all, I really enjoyed it.

Did You Miss Me?

Guess who’s back? Well not quite yet but in about a year or so Tony Stark returns for his second outing in Iron Man 2. Robert Downey Jr is back in the hotseat with an improved version of the Mark 3. Who else is in for the sequel? Well Entertainment weekly features the actors on the cover and some pictures from the movie.

Scarlett Johansson goes from blonde to redhead as the Black Widow…….oh man, did I mention the tight leather? Other newbies include Mickey Rouke as Whiplash.

ironmanEW3

And Don Cheadle takes over as James Rhodey. Personally I prefer Terrence Howard but Jamie Foxx would have been more badass…….Cheadle is a great actor but seems a little small for the role.

The Batman

Good morning and welcome back to the grind! Yeah…..another long week ahead but what to do, that’s life. We’ll be smiling again before we know it.

A friend sent me this a few days ago and it’s next on my hit list. Could you consider this a must have for all Batman fans…………quite possibly. It’s set for release first quater of 2010 and it should cost anything above 200 to 400 bucks. Time to start saving.

DX02_TDK_Batman_10

It’s got a variety of functions………first and most importantly, it’s very detailed and fully posable. There are 3 different detachable heads with different facial expressions. The sonar visors can also slide down and light up……got your mouth watering yet?

DX02_TDK_Batman_08

The utility belt features magnetic detachable weapons like the sticky bomb gun as well as his grabbling hook gun.

I’ve already decided on the pose I want for The Batman when I get it. I’m gonna stand it just like the picture below, with the cape folded and hidden……….looks like a high-tech soldier.

Can’t wait for it’s release man………did I mention it comes with a stand that lights up…

Gathering (Photos By Leanna)

It’s always nice to have a lttle get together, esp if your about to go for reservist. Well such was the case of dear old Kenneth as he prepared for his annual service to the nation.

This gathering was alot more successfull than expected. It was supposed to be just between 4 of us but in the end we had 7 people turn up.

6651_106456341199_710671199_2245474_6128103_n

This time Leanna provided the pictures. The only one missing though is Ming who was late. Oh that’s not all that he’s late for……….lol *personal joke* Happy 1st Sept in advance Ming……hahahaha!

6651_106456336199_710671199_2245473_8279032_n

We went down to Orchard Central for dinner at a place called Heaven’s Loft…….nice fish and chips I tell you. But the thing that gets me about that shopping centre is that it’s like a freaking Space Ship……with a rock climbing wall in the middle……..cool or unique I guess.

6651_106456346199_710671199_2245475_5898897_n

Now the wait for the next get together………..perhaps for the BPL curtain raiser in August……..go MO7! Hahahaha!

Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince

It’s year 6 at Hogwats and our favorite wizards are back for a new term. Harry continues to discover more about the past, himself and of course “he who must not be named”

You probably know the details of the film better than me………..honestly I don’t read the books but I do enjoy the movies. I remember watching the first one all tthose years ago.

hp6

It seems that Harry Potter films keep getting darker and one would think it’s not suitable for the under 13 yrs old audience anymore. It’s quite possible parents upon watching the dark tone of the film may not want their kids to watch it but I think it’s brilliant that it keeps getting darker.

I like how magic just isn’t so simple anymore. It’s no cartoon or happy tune…………it can cause harm, real harm.

If you have read the book for this one you may be a little disappointed at the way the film ends. Certain key events are missing in this film and somehow you get that anti-climax feeling as the film sets us up for Part 7 aka Deathly Hallows.

None the less, it’s difficult to resist the Harry Potter band wagon.

High Voltage

Jason Staham is back in the sequel to the successful Crank from 2006. That film was made on a budget of just 12 million but brought in over 30 millon at the box office making it a sleeper hit. I was invited to the gala premier of the movie thanks to my friend Ed from Canon.

This movie pretty much follows up from the first one. Chev Chelios is seen falling off a helicopter to his death………..or not. You see, he has an indestructable heart so it just keeps beating!

crank_high_voltage

Freaky huh………well it doesn’t end there, the Chinese triad step in, scoup his body off the ground and off to a make shift operating room where his heart is removed and replaced it with an artificial heart.

His real heart is off to the black market while Chelios tries hunting it down……..problem is, he needs to constantly charge himself with electricity to keep his artificial heart beating. Now you see where the overdrive for this film begins.

I must say that if you liked the first one, this one won’t be far off your expectations but if your not used to it then well it’s probably because of the unique direction of the film. Mixed reviews indeed but the way I see it, this film is a different kind of art. Not your typical summer blockbuster yet its your typical action flick.

You were probably wondering earlier why Canon would be the organisers of this movie premier…… Well what’s interesting is how most of this movie was filmed with a Canon camcorder…….I’m not joking. How cool is that! the quality is excellent cos I couldn’t see any difference on screen. Encouragement for the budding film maker with you perhaps.
