The Power Wake Up Call commemorated Earth Day today with a special guest, Miss Earth Singapore 2008 Ivy Leow. Ah yes it’s nice to have a pretty face join us in the morning, does wonders to brighten up the day.

The cause was simple, to raise awareness about environmental issues and of course global warming. These are just some of the causes which Miss Earth Singapore stands for and Ivy has done her bit this past year. She came by to share with us her experiences as well as a little on herself.

Bet you that you wouldn’t think for one moment that she’s in the IT industry……….yeah no kidding, she’s a system analyst.

Also joining us was the Managing Director of Miss Earth Singapore, Cheryl Hansen (left of pic) who has been with the cause for quite a while now. It’s not just the Singapore representative that she manages but she is involved with Miss Earth International which features up to 90 women from around the world.

Well how about that man……. Oh this isn’t my first time meeting a Miss Earth, I actually met the Miss Earth Singapore from 2006, Shn Juay as well as Miss Earth International, Hill Hernandez. Both we beautiful, dedicated to helping to save the earth and…..TALL!

Ivy is not as tall but shes still tall at 1.71m…….so for the record in typical childish manner……I had to prove I was taller……abit bo liao but I was bored.

As I stretched upwards to beat her height, I realised I was out done by women’s best friend……..HIGH HEELS! And there we have an unglam shot of me being suanned…….

Well there you go, Ivy is a strong advocate to prevent wastage. So thats no wasting of food, material, clothing…..lots of things a re-usable or recyclable so let’s do our part.

Here’s a little piece Charmaine shared with me this morning. She did a compilation of what your character is, based on your ice cream flavour preferences and so he asked me mine. My answer was Chocolate Chip, so let’s see what my flavour says about me.

Well works been busy so I haven’t had much time to catch up with friends but Eugene’s post birthday celebration was good reason for most of us to make the time to come out……..ok that plus this place he wanted to bring us to go eat.

So the place is Maritime House at Everton Park which is a nice quiet place if your looking to spend some quality time with old friends.

Now the set meals are a must have, you can pretty much mix and match your choices and theres a free flow of salad. Although be carefull how much salad you take cos your really gonna need space for the main course……as tasty as the salad might be.

As you can see, it’s a very nice environment. Quite a homely feel cos of all the families that go there to it. All in all, I think the biggest pull factor was that you really could just sit relax and enjoy the food at your own pace. No need to queue or rush for food and it’s not noisy too.

I really enjoyed the evening, and of course it was great to see everyone again after so long. Perhaps we could do this again on a monthly basis.

Well for Mike O’Donnell (Zak Efron), he is a star on his high school basketball court with a college scout in the stands and a bright future in his grasp. But instead, he decides to throw it all away to share his life with his girlfriend Scarlett and the baby he just learned they are expecting.

Almost 20 years later, Mikes (Matthew Perry) glory days are behind him. His marriage to Scarlett has fallen apart, he has been passed over for a promotion at work, his teenage kids think he is a loser, and he has been reduced to crashing with his high school nerd-turned-techno-billionaire best friend Ned.

But Mike is given another chance when he is miraculously transformed back to the age of 17.  And in trying to recapture his best years, Mike could lose the best things that ever happened to him.

A movie about treasuring the things we have in life and for me……..it’s a movie about having no regrets! After all, things happen for a reason. Why wallow in the past and in opportunities missed. Instead, look for new opportunities and new happiness!

Well this is what not to do, last week an unfinished work plan copy of X-Men Origins: Wolverine was leaked onto the internet from an unknown source at 20th Century Fox.

Well needless to say, the internet was flooded with illegal uploads and downloads even with the FBI hot on the trails of the culprit.

Up steps Roger Friedman, a freelance columnist for Fox News who thought it was a good idea to write an early review of the movie………..by downloading it.

Let’s not talk about the positive review he wrote……..screw that cos it doesn’t matter. Friedman YOU BROKE THE LAW! And you had to do a stupid ass thing by publishing first class evidence of your guilt in the papers……

So there you go……a lesson on what not to do to impress your boss.

Big stars drop by our studios all the time and this Monday we had non other than the runner up of American Idol Season 7, David Archuleta in for an interview on Power Cruisin’ with Sebastian.

Of course we dragging him for all the usual station liners and the Red Hot spotlight capsule. He seems like a pretty down to earth kid, nice guy overall.

He performed at a showcase on Tuesday at Iluma over at Victoria Street. I actually made it down and as expected it was packed with lots of screaming teenage girls. Oh well gotta work so no choice but to dive into the crowd.

Catching up with the folks from Sonymusic was fun when they were at our studios. Gosh I haven’t seen Ruth in a while, that’s what happens when you do a morning show but hey it’s all good, we had fun!

Big time comic book fan checking in……hahaha ok maybe not so big time compared to some others out there. Man, I know some really crazy people who love and live comic books.

I’m more of someone who indulges in comics………yeah that would be accurate to say. Check out my latest indulgence. Marvel Chronicles, a year by year history. Oh this is like a mini holy grail of comics…..haha!

This was a gift from my best friend, something of a motivation for the year to work harder. Well thanks alot babe, I really like it! Although I haven’t found like a place to display it…….perhaps on my desk shelf next to my Captain America Shield.

On another note, I was thinking……..what’s your favorite comic book cover? I mean in recent times we’ve had quite a few limited edition covers right. One of my faves is this one from “The death of Captain America” 

This one features Bucky Barns aka Winter Soldier, taking over as the new Captain America. A request from the late Steve Rogers in a letter to Tony Stark.

Or how bout this one…..

Isn’t it soooo cool that Barack Obama is on the cover of Spiderman…..his fave comic book character. This one was of course an Inauguration day special where Spidey gets called into action by Mr President himself.

Ok last bit is a photo from comingsoon.net………..check out RDJ on the set of Iron Man 2! Yes it has begun filming, woo hoo! The dude is wearing platform shoes lah! Haha Shoe lifts to perhaps give Tom Cruise a run for his money…

Now this is the breath of fresh air I’ve been looking for! New Model, Original Parts is a perfect description of the film not just cos the original cast is back but the “New model” is really the way the story is writen out. Forgive my indulgence but I’m gonna really dive into it.

You see it was predictable yet not quite the way you predict in terms of plot flow. There is alot that was really unexpected especially the main plot of why everyone was reunited.

And you know thats why I say it’s a breath of fresh air cos with a movie like that, you would spend many parts of the film saying to yourself “oh I think I know what’s gonna happen next…..it always turns out like that” but then it doesn’t and you go………..”woah I didn’t see that one coming”

Racing scenes without a doubt were excellent although there were some computer generated scenes but the close ups I must say were excellent. Very much different from “Tokyo Drift” which made this film for me, the sequel I’ve been waiting for.  

The chemistry between the cast members is excellent, it was very seemless the way everyone just got back into their roles. It did have much of the same feel from the first film yet it had more tension between the characters. It’s like, everyone has some grudge against the other yet there is a familiar friendship between each other so there are kinda like “mood swings” between the characters.

The strength of Vin Diesel was pretty scary throughout the film cos he was quite pissed off for many periods and so he was literally throwing people around. This dude is strong man…………it’s even more believeable than the first film cos back then he didn’t do many superhero or superspy films but today we all know him as a big action star so you’d believe he could really throw you across the room, plus he looks bigger than he used to.

Overall it gets the 2 thumbs up from me. And now that it’s April, the summer blockbuster is almost upon us and this movie can consider itself a great opener!

Hot babe of the film: Jordana Brewster…………….hey every Fast and Furious film has a babe and for me in this one, Jordana stood out. Guess it’s the sweet girl next door look that got me.
