I know I’ve been kinda slow on the blogging front. Truth is I’ve been really busy and there are times i cant quite figure out what i want to blog. Well ya you could say just blog about whats happening in my life right……….so I figured I’d just tell you one of the things I’ve been busy with.
Planning Power 98 car decal giveaways…..hahaha! It’s actually quite fun to be able to meet listeners at our giveaways and come Mar 6 is another chance for you to pick up a Power 98 car decal. But there’s lots more to look forward to like Gillette fusion goodie bags. So I’ll see you on Friday 6 mar 09 at the carpark of Toa Payoh stadium starting 1230pm ya……seriously those Gillette goodie bags are pretty awesome so don’t miss out on it!
And being on The Morning Jam means I don’t have to rush back for my 2pm show like in the past……….haha must take a nap while on the way to the giveaways. Them power naps can really go a long way man…….hahahaha!
Oh I found some old pics in my lappy last night. These next 2 were taken during the first Power 98 car decal I organised. It was at the carpark next to Newton Hawker centre. Happened to be Simone’s last decal giveaway too.
Well she’s gone on to Virgin Radio in Dubai and I hear she’s doing really well. I remember that evening…….She, Harry and myself had a huge dinner at Newton Hawker Centre after that, it was shiok man!
X-men fans would have been disappointed with it’s last film, X-men The last stand. Personally i was very upset with it, with Professor X being killed off, Cyclops dying and the story line totally way off the comic books. Even though that film made alot of money considering it a huge box office success due to earnings……….It doesn’t exist to me!
Thankfully for us X-men fans, we have something else to look forward too. Although I’ve got mixed feelings over this one, X-men origins Wolverine.
Ok the actor Hugh Jackman is perfect for the role but how will this prequel set 20 years before the events of the first X-men film turn out……we will find out come May 09. In the meantime, xmenfilms.net has released 3 new promo shots for the upcoming summer blockbuster.
They got Wolverine’s hair abit different for this prequel signifying a “younger” Logan which works for me. He’s a solo act in this film and Jackman can carry something like that off very well.
No doubt his got the fitness part all worked out……damn the dude is ripped man. It would take most of us like years to accomplish this.
In between reshooting some scenes, Jackman took some time off to host the Oscars……..hahaha! Gotta hand it to him, Oscar ratings went up this year by about 4 mil to 36m compared to last years 32m hosted by Jon Steward. You might not have noticed that producers didn’t hire a comedian to host the Academy awards this year.
Check out his opening performance below!
Fyi, Jackman started his career as a stage actor, one of those broadway musical types…..hence the singing voice.
I mentioned in my previous blog sometime last year about this movie. And most people have seen the trailer already but still big questions hang over the appeal of this film. There are even questions as to why this film was ever produced in the first place.
Well to be honest, I am also unsure of this movie. I just feel somehow that the actors filling the comic characters are wrong, the entire feel of the movie just isn’t DragonBall at all.
Perhaps that’s why they are calling it DragonBall Evolution………..a breakaway perhaps. So that the audience won’t compare. Somewhat like the movie Final Fantasy: The spirits within.
Well, to be honest people will compare. I’m not a hardcore fan of this comic but I know a few people out there who are and they are already condeming this film. None the less, you gotta give it some credit for the art work.
Actually thats what drew me to this movie, the posters. I quite fancy the way it’s been captured………it’s something different from what you would expect in DragonBall.
These were taken off Ign.com and are the officiial character posters for the up coming movie. My fave poster is the one below.
Featuring Emmy Rossum as Bulma, I like the guns shes carrying and the outfit too. I think it’s pretty stylish and well she looks pretty hot in it too!
I guess maybe she could be a reason to catch the film………..I’m sure fanboys will have their opinion of the film but usually the hot chicks get sparred………..we shall have to see.
Dance……an art form envied by so many, mastered by so few. I for one try……..as hard as I might to dance. But really it’s not in the will or the ability. It’s really in the passion, in listening to your body just move in one fluid motion.
Well an annual competition is back to show case this beautiful art form. Called Dance works, this competition aims to promote a drug-free life through dance. Organised by the Central Narcotics Bureau and the National Council Against Drug Abuse, this year’s theme is to “Dance your way to a drug free life”
The competition got underway on the 21 Feb 2009 and I’m glad to be able to host it. The Cat 1 finals took place at the Toa Payoh HDB hub were the likes of over 20 primary schools took part in it.
You can check out the compilation video below.
The next event will be held at the open plaza outside Plaza Singapura on 7 Mar 09, which is the Cat 3 preliminary round. Featuring an open catergory of dancers aged 25 and below. See you then!
Based on the best-selling book, He’s Just Not That Into You is a film about life and romance.
The characters in this film centre around a group of 20 and 30 somethings who’s love lives are interlinked. Along the way they must learn to navigate the tricky territory of relationships, both old and new.
By the end, some marriages will be over, some will be just beginning, some old habits will be broken and some new ones will be formed.
Despite the best efforts of a talented cast, He’s Just Not That Into You devotes too little time to each of its protagonists, thus reducing them to stereotypes.
A once hugely successful professional wrestler, Randy “The Ram” Robinson now makes a living performing for diehard wrestling fans in high school gyms and community centers.
But when he suffers a heart attack, Randy’s doctor tells him he needs to lay off the steroids and stop wrestling.
He tries to reconnect with his estranged daughter and strikes up wary romance with an aging stripper, Pam. For a while, things work out. But the pull of the spotlight us too much for him and Randy attempts once again to fight his way back into the ring.
Mickey Rourke gives a performance for the ages in The Wrestler, a richly affecting, heart-wrenching yet ultimately rewarding drama.
Well my colleagues at work think I’m slightly obsessed with watching this TV series cos I seem to remember most of the lines but I say “Frak” No…..I just remember them, it’s a gift! Hahahaha!
This reboot of the original 1978 series is now into it’s 4th and final season and for me, I’ve known about it for a while but only recently managed to watch all of them on DVD. The reason is because it was not shown here in Singapore so I waited for the originals to be released on DVD, great packaging btw.
Season 4 sees the search for Earth continue, an unlikely truce between the Humans and Cylons and the revelation of the final Cylon.
The smartings thing about this series are the swear words, go check out the lingo here.
Well, most of you have already read about it in the newspapers. I have now taken over as the host of The Morning Jam on Power 98.
It’s a solo show means I’ll be alone but I do hope you can participate and join me weekday mornings from 6am to 10am on Power 98 and we’ll do our best together to give ourselves a great start every morning!
I look forward to hanging out with you every morning as we get to know one another on a brand new timeslot for me.
Tom Cruise stars in the suspense film, VALKYRIE, based on the true story of Colonel Claus von Stauffenberg and the daring and ingenious plot to eliminate one of the most evil tyrants the world has ever known.
Colonel Claus von Stauffenberg is a loyal officer who serves his country all the while hoping that someone will find a way to stop Hitler before Europe and Germany are destroyed. Realizing that time is running out, he decides that he must take action himself and joins the German resistance.
He forms a cunning strategy to use Hitlers own emergency plan known as Operation Valkyrie to plot to assassinate Hitler and overthrow his Nazi government from the inside.
The film also stars an acclaimed cast including Kenneth Branagh, Bill Nighy, Tom Wilkinson and Terence Stamp. Now although we know that Valkyrie ends in failure, this film will provide an insight to the desperation and risk taken by these men and how significant success was to them.
Given the subject matter, Valkyrie could have been an outstanding historical thriller, but settles for being a mildly entertaining, but disposable yarn.
Sometime in 2007, Mini came up with a mini-series as a series of commercials which was part of an advertising campain. The 6-part video consists of a series of parodies of action shows from the 80s especially Knight Rider.
It’s called Hammer and Coop, basically Hammer is kind of the “Starsky and Hutch” kind of character and Coop is a 2007 Mini Cooper with a British accent…..kinda like KITT from Knight Riger. Ian from Technical introduced this to me yesterday and I laughed until stomach ache…..seriously man you should watch it!
Here’s episode 1: Clean Getaway
Episode 2: Dawn of Silverfox
Episode 3: Ninjas, ninjas and more ninjas
Episode 4: Caviar Dreams
Episode 5: Making Time
Episode 6: The Package
And don’t forget to watch the official music video too!
