Singapore Grand Prix: Race Day

Race day and everyone’s excited! An estimated 100,000 people were at the Marina Bay circuit for the first every Formula 1 night race.

There has been much hype about this event and yesterday it finally happened. Now the thing about being at a race is all the festivities that are taking place in the circuit area. Theres lots of food, beer and mehandise avaliable.

So before the flag off at 8pm, I went around to check out all the tents around thee circuit. Mechandise from Ferrari to Mclaren were on sale and you can see the crowd just literally tring to grab as much as they could so they don’t leave empty handed.

Hey I was one of them, I got myself a black Mclaren polo tee……wah I’m like fully equiped for the next race already.

Come 8pm, crowds gathered at the various screens in the circuit, so basically you can watch the action on TV, hear the commentary and hear the roaring engines all at the same time.  Of course I was at the Singapore Flyer catching the action.

And so were many people…..some even ran back to the track area when the cars were passing by, like running back and forth.

Ok I got caught on camera off guard….haha!

Now the guys at Three Angles Production were the organisors of the”Thank you party” for all the volunteers of the event….from ticketing to ushers to safety marshals.

The party begins after the race, Congrats to Fernando Alonso for finishing in front. Lewis Hamilton only managed 3rd but because of Massa’s poor finish, he now leads by 7 points.

Everyone is on the tracks 2 hours after the race! Last chance to soak in the whole Formula 1 atmosphere…….it was a great race and a great weekend!

Till next year!

Danker out!

Singapore Grand Prix: Qualifying Day

Ok it’s time to document my trip to the first ever Formula 1 night race. What a blast it was…….the raw power of the engines were really something else altogether…..it’s totally different from what you see and hear on TV.

I was at the Singapore Flyer which was near the Paddock area, where all the crew were. If you were there and you got lucky, you might have seen the likes of Lewis Hamilton or even some of the celebrity guests who were invited.

I stood there for abit, hoping to catch a glimse of someone famous and you know what, I was walking just 2 metres away from Mark Webber on my way to the flyer……can you believe it! I didn’t realise it was him until he turned the corner and my friend Janet pointed it out.

They don’t get anymore important that this, Flavio Briatore managing director of the Renault Formula One team and joint owner of Queens Park Rangers FC. Just the day before, his driver Fernando Alonso clocked the fastest practice time.

The team will be hoping for a good result during qualifiers for a shot at winning the first ever night race.

I’d like to take this time to thank Simon and Chris from Three Angles Production for taking me to the F1, here’s the view we had from the Bubble lounge at the Singapore Flyer!

That’s Chris who was also rooting for Hamilton. I gotta say the view was great……..we could see the turn before the pitstop and there was a giant screen so we could see everything else that was happening during the qualifiers.

Kenneth was also in the area so we took a walk back on the track after the qualifiers were done. Check out the burnt rubber man….Oooooo, race day is gonna be good!

You can just feel the raw power of the engines.

So after the qualifiers, here’s how it will look at the start of race day.

1. Ferrari’s Felipe Massa

2. McLaren’s Lewis Hamilton

3. Ferrari’s Kimi Raikkonen

Unfortunately for Alonso, his car had mechanical problems and he will therefore start in 15th position. What an uphil task it’s gonna be if he is to win.

Personally I’m rooting for Hamilton, he’s just a point ahead of Massa in the drivers championship and with just a few races to go….it’s gonna be tight.

Danker out!

Back For Another Run

I’m about to head off to the Singapore GP but not before I give you some other updates just to keep you glued to this site. Of course, I’ll update you on the GP come Monday.

In the meantime take this, a few TV shows have begun their new season runs in the USA and here’s some that I’ll be talking about….new twists, new enemies, you name it, these shows are back for another run and they promise more action and adventure

First, Terminator: The Sarah Connor chronicles Season 2.

Last time we left off, Cameron the Terminator was caught in a bomb blast. The question was “did she survive?” Of course she did……..come on, how else would we get our dose of the hot female cyborg……..not to mention dangerous too!

Also returning is Heroes Season 3. Now heres a series with new twists, this season is subtitled “Villians” which shows how some Heroes might actually be baddies all along while the Villians might turn out to be good.

How it will all unfold is a mystery but definately this 3rd season is looking alot stronger than the 2nd season.

No tights and no flights was the concept the producers of Smallville had in mind when the series first started and as you can see, it’s all been kept to a minimal with just a few hints that Clark Kent might one day start flying regularly.

This 8th Season of Smallville will also see a new look as Clark Kent sheds his farmboy image for a reporter in the Daily Planet. Looks like it’s a matter of time before Superman appears.

And finally a classic is remade. The new Knight Rider was meant to be just a TV movie earlier this year but with the success of that, NBC decided to turn it into a full TV series.

KITT returns as a mustang with a few modifications from the TV movie. This time it has an “Attack” mode where the car transforms into a full attack vehicle……yes you heard me, KITT is now a transformer.

Check out the cool new intro for this TV series.

Ok, I’m off to the tracks now…..

Hourglass Hublot Project F Bang

That’s what this entire range of watches is called. The event of course was held at Supper Club and I must say it was packed…..didn’t have much room to move but hey kudos to Hilda for the success of it!

On the guest list were Janet, Kenneth, Metro-man and myself. And well Metro-man being the fashionable one decided to wear a champagne coloured shirt……that’s interesting, haha!

The watches that were on display were really expensive, now I think we’re talking up to 5 digits here. Oh well, just enjoy the booze and the program.

I also bumped into an old friend, Jennifer. Oh man it’s been ages babe, you look great!

After a while, we found a nice corner to chill but I got restless so I say DANCE!

That’s right man, I said dance!

There we go, Metro-man on the dance floor and copying a particular pose. Anyway by then we were about getting ready for the lucky draw. The prizes were F1 tickets……………….didn’t win, hahaha dang!

Another thing on show was this lady who was covered in chocolate, lying down on a table. So what you have to do is get some biscuit and then go over and dip it into the chocolate……haha I wonder if it tastes nice because it’s really nice or because the girl was hot…..hmmmmm…

Ok time to go, thanks again Hilda for the invites and congratulations on your event. Although I did try to con her of one of the watches before I left………….didn’t work, dang again!

Danker out!

Super Import Nights: All I want for Xmas is an SLK

Kenneth dropped me an sms during lunchtime yesterday asking if I wanted to head down to Super Import Nights. I was there on Thursday and Friday but I didn’t really take my time to look at all the cars so I thought why not.

While Ken was taking photos of the cars, I paid a visit to Gary at Autohub asia. Wah the SLK damn nice lah, lucky I was in my McLaren Mercedes shirt so I could get a shot with the car………..matching what!

Here we have the white SLK.

Time to get in, it’s all mine………hands firmly on steering wheel! Ready, set………..lets go!

“Erm excuse me, I’m trying to drive out here!” Moments later Gary took the key back and I couldn’t leave with my car. Dang!

Went to look for Kenneth who was still happily shooting cars….mind you ah, many babes around but Kenneth decided to do artistic shots of the cars.

Guess it’s one of those photography hobby things where you wanna try out new shot angles.

Just before we left, I stopped by the admin office to say goodbye to the guys at Three Angles Production. Of course they are the organisers of the event and they have been really nice.

Then some how, Sam decided that I ought to take a shot with the import models who were just back stage………..arrrrrr what the heck!

They’re in black and I’m in red……I knew it was a good idea to wear this shirt!

Danker out!

WOOF Ball 2: The Return to Suntec

After Carvivour, I headed to Suntec City to meet up with Jun Yuan, Kenneth, Janet and Kathleen for a round of Woof Ball. We had our “minimum purchase of $30″ receipts from Suntec so we were all set…………finally another round of human hamster.

This is gonna be short photo journal of our adventure so get ready for all the pics! As you can see, the sun has gotten to me………..at this point I’m deciding if I should go in with my sunglasses!

First up, Jua Yuan aka Metroman aka Human hamster! hahaha!

Eh no kidding man, he really is a human hamster. He’s probably the only adult who could stand and run in that thing!

And then we have Kenneth who has been excited by this new discovery! Time to get in the orb mate!

Not too bad from Kenneth, he did well on his first try. Next we have Janet……how will she fair?

Here’s your answer…..with the other 2 orbs in the pool, Janet drifted to the other corner thanks to human hamster who was banging into everyone.

Alright it’s time for some action………Danker is going in, with Sunglasses!

Turns out my tired legs were getting to me, I couldn’t balance, couldn’t take out the human hamster!

All that hype came to an end when Jun Yuan was forced out of the pool….he was a hazard for hamstering around!

As for me……..Bob decided to leave me out there…….alone, without strength to paddle my way back, just drifting to the ends of the pool!

That’s it, a short photo journal of the second episode of Woof ball…….tell me you wanna have a go at this. It’s too much fun man!

The organisers Bob and Suzy, who will be at Suntec City till the 28th of Sept. All you have to do is make sure you spend more than $30 then show them your receipt to redeem your ride.

They welcome both little kids and kids at heart!

Danker out!

Carvivour Rally 2008

Just got back from a long day in the sun. Carvivour Rally 2008 was held today, it is Power 98’s biggest and sportiest car event and I got my first taste of it.

I must say I’ve truely learnt to appreciate the event because of all the systematic planning Sebastian and his team have put into it……respect! Anyway I was stationed at the Traffic Police Road Safety Park where the game being played was abit of a rally relay.

It was pretty fun and tiring mostly because me and George from the Tech dept were cycling around and playing with the go-karts, kind of serving as marshalls and “police men”……….man the last time I was there was in Primary School.

Congrats to Team Siao Siao for winning the top prize of $10,000.

After the event, I headed off to Suntec city for a round of WOOF Balls…….I’ll tell you about that in my next post.

After playing human hamster in WOOF Ball, dinner was Carl’s Jr………..I tell you I was damn hungry lah, really enjoyed the meal.

Well you know what to do, place the number by the side of the table and wait…..hahaha! Time to recharge!

Danker out!

Super Import Nights: Super Import Babes

Super Import Nights, the ultimate motorshow is happening from 18 Sept till 21 Sept at the Singapore Expo hall 5 but what’s a Jensen and Elliott show if we don’t get the babes to join us in the studio!

And so after persuading Chris Ang of Three Angles Production, he brought 10 of the girls to the studio yesterday at 3pm. There were mainly from the USA but there was one from Japan who spoke abit in Japanese on air.

Since there were 10, I say we split them 5 each man! Here we have Jensen interviewing the first 5, they basically talked about how long they have been modeling as well as some of the countries they have visited.

I had my own 5 to interview but I got a photo with of them first….hehe! Sorry partner!

Ok, so my half of the interview mainly touched on what to expect at Super Import Nights as well as some of the cars the girls liked!

Apart from that, they said they loved Singapore because it’s nice and clean! Looks like we are still number 1 in clean and green!

Time for the girls to head of to the opening of Super Import Nights at the Singapore Expo hall 5. I was there last night for the opening as well as earlier today and might I suggest you make it one of your weekend destinations this week.

Danker out!

ESP Guitar Clinic: Masashi Kimura

I spent Sunday helping Janet with her ESP Guitar Clinic, which this time featured Masashi Kimura from Japan. He was formerly from the band “Saw Loser” and most recently is with “Nothing to declare” and his clinic was held at The black Box at Fort Canning centre.

Masashi’s clinic basically covered information about his ESP guitar as well as his gadgets and other gears. He even spoke abit about his personal life. It’s the second time I’ve met the guy and I must say he’s a very nice and friendly chap and also very willing to share his knowledge.

There was one point where he offered advise to young and aspiring musicians saying don’t ever critisize others, always keep practicing, work hard and keep a good attitude. Well said, my friend!

The event was part of the Singapore Drum Fest and at this particular ESP Guitar Clinic, something stood out…..Cosplayers! The official retailers of ESP, Davis Guitar organised Masashi’s clinic. And Masashi being Japanese, they decided to bring in Cosplayers to pose with the various ESP, Edwards and LTD guitars!

Brilliant I must say and a first of it’s kind in Singapore. Definately a unique move from Davis Guitar as they bring new dimension to Cosplaying.

The 4 Cosplayers stole the show with their unique styles as many lined up to take pictures with them and the guitars! Here we have Janet posing with Asura, Soma, Juste and Toshiya, all characters from various anime and japanese computer games.

Not forgetting the 2 lolitas who helped out at the ESP booth, seen here posing with Masashi……..highlighting the Japanese theme for the clinic.

They really look cool man, I was thinking I could form a rock band with them! Going on stage would be a painful make up session but don’t you think it will look cool!

Also I gotta tell you about this, Roxanne aka Asura drew……yes drew the poster for Masashi’s clinc and she did it anime style. Take a look!

Lot’s of hard work put into this, both from Davis and the Cosplayers…………great job guys!

Last but not least, welcome home Kenneth! I see you survived your mission trip to Cambodia…….and thanks for the photos!

Danker out!

WOOF Balls

I bumped into an old friend yesterday, Mr Bob Dennis from when I used to work at SPH and his lovely wife had a stall near Harry’s at Suntec.

Jun Yuan pointed it out to me first and boy have you got to try it. It’s called WOOF Balls. It stands for Water Orb Of Fun. And like it is just awesome fun. Honestly I can’t describe it……you have to look at the pictures to get what I mean.

First you gotta get in and then they will fill the orb with air like a beach ball before they roll you inside the orb into a pool of water.

I tell you if it looks that much fun to you then wait till you try it out for yourself! Apparently all you have to do is to spend $30 or more at Suntec city and you get a complimentary ride.

You know it ain’t easy trying to stand in that thing in the water, you really gotta keep your balance. Only Jun Yuan could do it for abit but he had to keep running like a hamster……….oh yes that’s how I felt, like a hamster.

Kathleen said the crowd was really amused to see 2 big babies trying bounce the orbs off each other.

Now I understand why hamsters have so much fun……….gosh I wanna do this again man! Although there was a point that we kinda drifted far out in the pool…..man I tought I wouldn’t be able to get back.

If you wanna find out more about WOOF balls, you can contact Bob Dennis of Elephunk Pte Ltd at woofballs@gmail.com
